21. Newsletter of the Caribbean Council for Science and Technology, P.O. Box 1113, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, April-June 1997.This issue (of Resource #15 of our Fall 1994 issue) is devoted to the problem of water resource management in the Caribbean. Rivers and streams are described as "mere trickling flows." Beaches now have barely enough sand to cover underlying stones, and evidence of pollution is commonplace. The Newsletter reports that agricultural production and soil fertility are down. Fish stocks are depeleted, as much due to poor water quality as to overfishing. The cost of providing potable water is increasing because of the scarcity at source and increased cost of treatment. The Newsletter details what is being done and gives details of organizations promoting work on water resource management in the Caribbean.
