According to this author, the year 2000 computer glitch has proved surprisingly troublesome, and opportunities as well as dangers lie ahead. A number of people will be getting rich from the glitch, among them programmers and consultants, information providers, investors, and lawyers and litigators. On the grim side of the scenario there may be food and drug shortages due to confusion about expiration dates as well as financial and personnel errors because of similar date confusion. Already two major airlines have announced that they are planning no flights for 1 January 2000, in anticipation of system failures that could occur. The author also advises consumers what they can do to prepare for the "Y2K" problem and provides a list of further references to consult.
