3. James H. Kessler and Andrea T. Bennett (eds.), The Best of WonderScience (Delmar, 1997). 531 pp. $42.95.

This volume compiles the can-be-done-at-home experiments by the 65 topics featued in the 65 issues of WonderScience between 1986 and 996, in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of this venture for young children from the American Chemical Society and American Institute of Physics. These 65 topics are further grouped into 13 sections: science process skills, science and recreation, science and technologies, water, food science, materials science, physical changes, chemical changes, earth and space science, energy, motions and forces, sound, and light. They are also linked to the content standards of the National Science Education Standards, so that that elementary teachers can use the WonderScience experiments to implement the standards. Also included is a ten-page section on "Science Fair Projects: A Guide for Grownups."
