STS-13 Planning Underway

No sooner was STS-12 concluded than planning began for STS-13, slated for 5-7 March 1998 in the Chicago area, where it will be hosted by the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA). Two IMSA representatives, Dick Goodspeed and Gary Ketterling, attended STS-12, and working with them to organize STS-13 will be Linda Torp, Don Dosch, and Ed Moyer. They in turn will be working with President Yager and National Conference Chairman Joe Piel. Among the things Goodspeed is doing is to identify promising speakers from Argonne and Fermi National Laboratories and the Chicago Academy of Science.

It's not too soon to play your part to make STS-13 a success. First of all, mark 5-7 March 1998 on your calendar. Then, think about your presentation and write it up on the STS-13 proposal form included in this issue. Please note the deadlines on the form for inclusion in the Fall 1997 issue of the Teachers Clearinghouse Newsletter.
