Letters to the Editors: Our Readers Respond

Thanks to the many of you who have sent in your checks for your 1997 subscription and the additional contributions you have made to the Clearinghouse as well. Thanks also for the extra time you have taken to tell us what you like about our Newsletter. Homa Hill and Jane Abbott responded positively about our new web site. Jane also cited book reviews of interest, and Harriett Stubbs expressed thanks for reviews of two of her books. We appreciate the encouraging "keep up the (excellent/great) work" from many of you, including Alan Beck and Sheron Snyder, and Mary Ann Davis' saying that our publication is "most useful."

Dave Olney wrote of his happiness "to see a journal giving full coverage to the implementation of National Standards for Science (pros and cons) and their implication for our day-to-day teaching" and "to see that environmental issues are still being considered serious by lots of my teaching brethren." Dave added that our Newsletter "must be a labor of love," and in that you were right, Dave! We also thank Bruce Tulloch for characterizing our Newsletter as "the best bargain in science education!!"
