s- & e-mail to the Editors: Our Readers Respond

Reprinting Irma Jarcho's banquet address at STS-14 in our Spring issue elicited especially favorable comments. "What a pleasant surprise to see your photo and read your history," began Bonnie Kaiser of Rockefeller University. "You were STS even before there was one," she continued. "I think one of the strengths was that your school had a science advisory committee. . . . It also had YOU and you could fill in all the blanks left by committee recommendations." Also appreciating Irma Jarcho's address were Carol and Willard Jacobson, who also commended Jarcho for her coverage of the AAAS Science and Society essays and reported that they enjoyed reading Mike Passow's articles.

Art Hobson of the University of Arkansas e-mailed us his thanks for our coverage of the American Physics Centennial meeting in Atlanta, which he was unable to attend.
