The NIGMS is dedicated to increasing the number of scientist members of minority groups which are currently underrepresented in biomedical research. For this purpose it sponsors the Minority Access to Research Centers (MARC) Program, which provides special research training opportunities in the biomedical sciences for students and faculty at four-year colleges, universities, and health professional schools. This short pamphlet lists the institutions with MARC Honors Undergraduate Research Training Programs. Other aspects of the program include MARC Predoctoral Fellowships, the Faculty Fellowships Program, and the Visiting Scientist Program. The Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) Program is described in a separate brochure available from the same office. It awards grants to educational institutions with substantial minority enrollments to support research by faculty members and p rovide opportunities for students.
